wishful wednesday (on a thursday)

by kmcopeland

Mildly
 Wildly obsessed with this house – a renovated train station outside of Århus, Denmark.  I love how they started simple – white, black and wood – then threw in every possible shade of blue.

wishful wednesday [hus & hem]

by kmcopeland

I saw this home a while back at Hus & Hem, and I keep coming back to it. It’s so light, airy and happy, I can’t help but be cheerful when I look at it. And, as you know, I’m really feeling these soft pastel colors right now. What’s equally impressive to me is how color coordinated the entire house is. I’m way too ADD to do this, so this woman’s ability to stick to it just impresses the shit out of me. She even matches her outfits to her house. That, my friends, is dedication.

inspiration room [lonny]

by kmcopeland

So I’ve posted about this room from the last issue of Lonny before, but I really can’t stop thinking about it. I want to take that couch and breed it so I can have one to call my own. Wouldn’t mind the dining set, either. It’s just a very ballsy design that works so well.  In fact, I like this room so much that I am considering doing something inspired by it in our bedroom.  Here are initial thoughts:

Since this is, in fact, a fantasy, I felt obligated to put really expensive things in here that I would never be able to afford in real life.  Yay for living in pretty fantasy worlds! What do you guys think? Back to the drawing board?

Green Curtains, $50 [Z Gallerie]; Mirror, $300 [Z Gallerie]; Headboard, $350 [Urban Outfitters]; Black & White Stripe Pillows [Madeline Weinrib] Pink Pillow, $24 [Urban Outfitters]; Praying Mantis Pillow, $60 [Furbish]; Blue Cane Lamp, $300 [Clayton Gray Home]; Side Table, $200 [Anthropologie]; Striped Rug, $300 [Ikea]; Eames Lounge Chair, $800 [Room & Board]; Green Striped Pillow [Madeline Weinrib]  Cowhide Ottoman, $400 [Furbish]; White Cabinet, $1700 [Clayton Gray Home]

wishful wednesday [deko]

by kmcopeland

This week’s installment of wishful wednesdays features a home from Deko, a Finnish magazine I found through this blog that I love.  Things I love about it include: 1) that they put their records on display and have a giant A on their wall (you might also remember that I’m really feeling this color palette lately);

2) the chevron floors (duh) and painted legs of the dining room table (a nice alternative to the painted chairs that you see so often these days);

3) the light, bright and airy kitchen;

4) that amazeballs wallpaper that I want likerightnow;

5) that ridiculously cute elephant vignette and monkey hook in the kids room; and,

6) everything about the simplicity and rustic feel of this balcony (porch?).

This lesson is concluded.

Friday’s Fancy

by kmcopeland

Images via Rue Magazine, and emmas designblogg (here and here)

This Friday’s Fancy is all about bedrooms. In light of the fact that we don’t so much have a bedroom as a bed nook in our one bedroom apartment, my thoughts keep drifting to how nice it would be to have a proper bedroom that is relaxing and cozy. I would post a picture of the current state of things, but frankly, I’m too embarrassed. That and it would probably depress you.  I would much rather lust after pretty bedrooms online and pretend that I’m actually going to sleep there tonight.

All of these bedrooms caught my eye for one reason or another – like the dope birdy duvet, amazeballs bedside table and chair, and pretty wallpaper and  above. Here’s some more eye candy for your Friday viewing pleasure:

The gigantour mirror (1), funky bedside table (2) and pops of blue (3), my color of the moment.

The masculinity of the first room, art headboard in the second and fun green chair in the third.

Typical Scandinavian simplicity, my ideal of cozy slash I want to sleep here all day, and just plain ol’ pretty girliness.

Mainly, though, I would lust after anything that had a door (meaning it was not part of any other room) and a bed that didn’t also function as a couch.

It’s Black. It’s white.

You know it, uh-huh. Scandinavia appears to be rubbing off on me. I’ve never been one to embrace such a sparse color palette, so my attraction of late to black and white rooms with natural and wooden accents can only be attributed to the overwhelming popularity of this aesthetic in my new homeland. In defense of the trio, these rooms look so clean and thoughtfully pulled together – I just can’t get enough.

Sunday Funday

by kmcopeland

Bolaget is a realty company in Sweden who (I think) takes some of the best pictures of homes and flats for sale. I love going to their website and just browsing their listings – the styling and photography never disappoints and I always end up getting an idea or two.

Today is my lucky day because I just discovered that they have an “Inspiration” section on their website where they have collected some of their best pictures over the years. Here are some of my faves:

Pretty

I normally don’t like a lot of pink, but that last room just made me smile today. Hope you have your own Sunday Funday!
