Inspired By…

by kmcopeland

I’ve got jet-setting on my mind. Maybe it’s because our trip to Egypt got cancelled, maybe it’s because I seem to live in the only place in the Northern hemisphere where it’s actually getting colder, but I can’t stop thinking about hopping on a plane and heading south – somewhere warm, exotic and green. While the Swede and I aren’t of jet-setting status (yet!), my mom always told me to dream big. And I could seriously get down with a life of leisurely traveling the globe from one posh spot to another. That’s why this month’s inspiration is all about exotic pieces in bold & gold! My favorites are the gold leafed beer bottles…I see a DIY project in my future.

Trendspotting: 70s Chic

by kmcopeland

In case you haven’t heard, the 70’s are back in full force. From the runways to home decor, the decade is having a major moment, and I kind of like it. Not in the avocado shag carpeting with orange kitchen kind of way so much as the craftsy kitsch meets 70’s glam kind of way.

Would I run wild with it in my entire house? I’d like to think not. But I do think the individual items are pretty sick on their own. Just look at that owl letter holder and tell me you aren’t happily humming the tune to “Three’s Company” and fantasizing about terrycloth onesies.

3. Woods Wallpaper, Coral, $198 [Anthropologie]

5. Owl Letter Holder, $24 [Urban Outfitters]
6. Fluted Curved Stool, $299 [Room & Board]
7. Midas Collection Glassware, $25-$60 [Design Within Reach]

CONFESSIONS

by kmcopeland

My name is Katie and I am a throw pillow addict. To be perfectly honest, I have never met a throw pillow I did not like.  With the magic ability to transform a cold and uninviting room into a cozy abode, they just scream “home” to me.  There is always a place in my house for just…one…more.

So, imagine my excitement when I came across these vintage embroidered pillow covers at Myrorna (my favorite thrift store)!

I can see them working like so:

Print {Pedlars}, Lamp {Furbish Studio}, Sofa {Swedese}, Rug {West Elm}

What do you think? Are you feelin’ the throw pillow love?
