on the road: göteborg

by kmcopeland

Back in January, the Swede and I visited Göteborg, a town north of Malmö on the west coast of Sweden. Everyone talks about how it combines the best parts of Stockholm (the beauty) and Malmö (the working class vibe), so it’s been on my “to visit” list pretty much since we moved here a year ago. And even though it coincided with an unexpected work assignment due on Sat. at 1 pm and an even more unexpected a snow storm, it was a lovely weekend.

On Friday we saw Anna Ternheim in concert. She’s touring for her new album, which is amazing, and the concert was one of the best I’ve ever been to. If she comes to your neck of the woods, go. Saturday’s snow storm put a kink in our plans for a walking tour of the city. But Larssons don’t quit. We drink (all day). Our tour took us to a couple of very cool places – the Öl Cafe by Järntorget, a cute bar in Haga, and Hagabion. It’s definitely a city I look forward to visiting in the summer because, let’s face it, everything in Sweden is prettier in the summer.

Things of late

by kmcopeland

Over the past few months, I’ve collected a few things (and finally gotten around to putting together the things I already had laying around.) And one day, out of the blue, I realized that this place is finally, finally starting to feel like home.

I love it all, but I think my favourites (besides that precious pug, of course) are the mini salt and pepper shakers and the old family photos. I’ve put up a few of them, but I just really love the one taken of my mom and dad on their wedding day.

as of late

by kmcopeland

In an effort to share a bit more about what’s going on with me and the Swede, I’ve decided to start a new feature on this here blog. I’m kind of obsessed with Instagram and am convinced that it is impossible to take a bad picture with it, so I figure it’s a great way to share a bit of my everyday with all of y’all!

From left to right, row by row: A rainbow captured on my way home from Central Station / It’s äpplekaka (apple cake) season in Skåne and I plan on eating A LOT / Some new pillows I sewed for the couch / An early morning in downtown Malmö / The cutest pug puppy ever. / It’s not fall without a pumpkin

Friday’s Fancy

by kmcopeland

I discovered a new website today that I am officially OBSESSED with. Called The Coveteur, it allows me to tastefully stalk people who have more money than I! Basically, they go into the homes of fashion industry big whigs and style their most treasured possessions around their home decor. They then take incredible photographs of their work and post them on the web so that the rest of us can realize how incredibly uncool we really are. It sounds like this wouldn’t be any fun, but I kid you not – I’ve been perusing pics for the last two hours.

Here are a few of my favorite pics:

Harley Viera Newton

Mary Kate Steinmiller

Karla Martinez

That last one really makes me want to start a vintage flask collection. But wait, there’s more! The site also features men. I especially like stalking stylish, good looking men:

Keith Pollock

Nur Kahn

Ryan Korban

I highly recommend that you fit some stalking into your weekend plans, if for no other reason than to see how cute Keith Pollock and Ryan Korban are. You won’t regret it.
