on the road: göteborg

by kmcopeland

Back in January, the Swede and I visited Göteborg, a town north of Malmö on the west coast of Sweden. Everyone talks about how it combines the best parts of Stockholm (the beauty) and Malmö (the working class vibe), so it’s been on my “to visit” list pretty much since we moved here a year ago. And even though it coincided with an unexpected work assignment due on Sat. at 1 pm and an even more unexpected a snow storm, it was a lovely weekend.

On Friday we saw Anna Ternheim in concert. She’s touring for her new album, which is amazing, and the concert was one of the best I’ve ever been to. If she comes to your neck of the woods, go. Saturday’s snow storm put a kink in our plans for a walking tour of the city. But Larssons don’t quit. We drink (all day). Our tour took us to a couple of very cool places – the Öl Cafe by Järntorget, a cute bar in Haga, and Hagabion. It’s definitely a city I look forward to visiting in the summer because, let’s face it, everything in Sweden is prettier in the summer.

away for a while…

by kmcopeland

Sorry I haven’t been much of a blogger lately, everyday life is just currently winning in the battle over my time. And now I’m off on a two week trip to Spain that I am pretty darn excited about. But, I promise that I’ll come back refreshed and ready to tell you about all the things I’ve been up to lately…

Have a wonderful few weeks!

lately…

by kmcopeland

This might answer the question of where I’ve been! Friends came to visit from the US and we traveled around Sweden, hitting Stockholm, Kalmar and Karlskrona (a new favorite).  We had ourselves a good ol’ time. I thought I’d share some random snapshots taken with my iPhone while I work up a for realz post.  Enjoy!

We’re Going on a Picnic

by kmcopeland

A friend of ours recently bought a 1960s Beetle, and I have to say we’re a bit jealous. Especially when said friend talks about all of the trips he plans on taking to the countryside once the weather gets nicer. He invited us for a spring picnic when it gets warmer, and I’m more than a little excited. Not that you could tell or anything. I am slightly obsessed with owning that vintage picnic basket. Look at it, it even has places for wine bottles. (I tried to be kosher and include a thermos and water bottle in my post, but I think we all know the basket would primarily tote bottles of vino.)

In other news, another person placed a higher bid on the apartment we’re after so we had to counter. This whole process is really anxiety inducing, which is even more justification for me owning that picnic basket…and two bottles of wine.

Clockwise from top left: Vintage Picnic Basket, $65 [Platsi Place]; Volvo picture via here; Corduroy Floor Pillows, $29 [Urban Outfitters]; Kelli Throw, $50 [Crate & Barrel]; Braided High Swedish Hasbeens, $220 [Swedish Hasbeens]; Conversational Pompom Scarf, $24 [Urban Outfitters]; Glass Water Bottle, $30 [Furbish Studio]; Classic Stanley Thermos, $48 [Urban Outfitters]; Round Tray, $50 [Furbish Studio]; Quilting Circle Napkin, $6 [Anthropologie]; Sahara sunglasses, $18 [Need Supply]
