commitment issues

by kmcopeland

After a lot of back-and-forthing in my head, this is what I’m thinking for the colors in my living room. You’ve seen the chair I recovered, and I plan on making my own navy blue tufted velvet ottoman – a smaller version of this guy. I’m thinking pillows in coral ikat, navy zig zag and a minty green, all tied together with this kilim pillow. Now I’m interested in your thoughts/feedback (as long as you agree with me and confirm my decision to commit to this color scheme).

citrus

by kmcopeland

Saw this picture while perusing a blog favorite, My New Roots, for recipe inspiration and was immediately drawn to the bright colors. This is exactly how I want my summer to be – cheerful citrusy shades that make it impossible to be anything but happy. Happy Friday!

color story [muted spring]

by kmcopeland

I can’t get enough of olive green lately, especially when paired with light blue or dusty rose (or both). It’s a muted color palette that’s perfect for soft spring days…

color story

I am fully aboard the mint bandwagon. As soft and feminine as it is sassy, mint invokes so many fond spring memories for me – mint chocolate chip ice cream, Girl Scout thin mint cookies, mint juleps and one of my very favorite outfits as a little girl. Mint is surprisingly versatile, but I’m especially loving it lately with a pop of burgundy, a shade that provides that perfect manly counterpoint to such a sweet color.

inspiration room [lonny]

by kmcopeland

So I’ve posted about this room from the last issue of Lonny before, but I really can’t stop thinking about it. I want to take that couch and breed it so I can have one to call my own. Wouldn’t mind the dining set, either. It’s just a very ballsy design that works so well.  In fact, I like this room so much that I am considering doing something inspired by it in our bedroom.  Here are initial thoughts:

Since this is, in fact, a fantasy, I felt obligated to put really expensive things in here that I would never be able to afford in real life.  Yay for living in pretty fantasy worlds! What do you guys think? Back to the drawing board?

It’s Black. It’s white.

You know it, uh-huh. Scandinavia appears to be rubbing off on me. I’ve never been one to embrace such a sparse color palette, so my attraction of late to black and white rooms with natural and wooden accents can only be attributed to the overwhelming popularity of this aesthetic in my new homeland. In defense of the trio, these rooms look so clean and thoughtfully pulled together – I just can’t get enough.

I’m shocked at how downright cozy they all make me feel. Perhaps I need some black, white and wood in my life!
